John B. Henderson, Jr.

Executive Director, Communications

John Henderson has dedicated his entire professional career to working with systems serving youth and families at risk. Over the last 25 years he has held numerous leadership positions in the nonprofit sector, in the areas of juvenile detention, social work, K-12 education, higher education, and health and recreation. John's drive is rooted in his vision of how entire systems can work most effectively, and his strong sense of where innovation can lead to improvement and hope for those in need.

As Executive Director of Communications at Foundations, Inc. since 1999, John has led strategic partnership and development initiatives to improve educational experiences for our nation’s most vulnerable children and youth. During his tenure, he has helped the company establish its brand as a leading provider of customized professional development and technical assistance services for schools, school districts, community-based organizations, and afterschool networks. He also serves as executive planner for Foundations’ trademark Beyond School Hours® national conference, an annual professional development event for educators. Due to John’s unique expertise with connecting people, organizations and systems, he is a frequent consultant to nonprofit and commercial institutions seeking advice and guidance for their own advancement.

John earned his M.B.A. with a specialty in Marketing and Executive Management from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA, and holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He is an adjunct professor at the LeBow School of Business at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he teaches business and marketing primarily for international and first-generation-college students.
