John B. Henderson, Jr.
John Henderson has a background in juvenile justice, strategic marketing, business and community development, and college and career counseling. As Executive Director of Communications for Foundations, Mr. Henderson directs the planning and implementation of the organization’s public relations, partnership development, and marketing initiatives. He also manages organization-wide communications and press relations, and coordinates activities with local and national community and business partners. His responsibilities include oversight of image and branding activities through web and print media.
A member of Foundations’ Management Team since 1999, Mr. Henderson provides guidance and direction in business planning and strategic market positioning of the organization’s products, services while simultaneously advancing Foundations’ overall mission. An accomplished presenter and facilitator, Mr. Henderson is requested by many commercial and non-profit organizations to lead workshops, professional development sessions and seminars on topics ranging from grant writing and development to marketing and public relations.
Before joining Foundations, Mr. Henderson was Executive Director of College Relations for PRIME Inc. in Philadelphia, where he was responsible for providing pre-college counseling, programs, and services to over 1,000 at-risk, inner-city high school students and their families. Prior to that time, he worked as a youth development specialist in juvenile detention and probation programs in Montgomery County, PA. Mr. Henderson has served as a board member and consultant for a variety of youth service and community organizations, and has also been an adjunct faculty member for Drexel University in Philadelphia. Mr. Henderson holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University in Philadelphia, and earned his M.B.A. with a specialty in Marketing and Executive Management at Eastern University in St. Davids, PA.
