Pre-Conference: Expand Learning Time in Your Program

Linking with the School Day (Plenary Session):

High-quality out-of-school time programs collaborate with schools to achieve common goals, but collaboration is often easier said than done. This session will offer tools and strategies to help programs better share their mission and goals, develop stronger partnerships with schools, facilitate resource and information sharing, and support students' academic and social-emotional development.

Breakout Sessions:

  • Language and Literacy: Read-alouds, book clubs, and journaling are just the beginning! Learn hands-on activities and strategies that support reading comprehension, vocabulary-building, and critical thinking to help create an environment that supports literacy development.
  • You CAN do STEM!: Informal, out-of-school time environments are perfect for building awareness and having fun with STEM. Participants will learn strategies and receive tools to help facilitate STEM learning, practice STEM planning at the lesson and program levels, and learn how to integrate hands-on STEM activities with youth into their program.
