of education and educational opportunities for disadvantaged
children, youth, and families through work with public
and charter schools, school districts, education
organizations, and the afterschool field. As a capacity
building organization, Foundations focuses on professional
development, technical assistance, program development,
and supporting services for individuals and organizations
across the country.
The Annenberg Foundation
The Annenberg Foundation is
the successor corporation to the Annenberg School
at Radnor, Pennsylvania, established in 1958 by Walter
H. Annenberg. A key focus of the Foundation is on
K-12 public education reform in the United States,
in the areas of redesigning school districts, developing
and supporting educational leadership, rethinking
accountability, and fostering community-centered
approaches to education reform.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation
Since 1948, the Annie E. Casey
Foundation, a private charitable organization, has
worked to build better futures for disadvantaged
children and their families in the United States.
The primary mission of the Foundation is to foster
public policies, human service reforms, and community
supports that more effectively meet the needs of
today's vulnerable children and families.

21st Century Community Learning Centers Program
The No Child Left Behind Act
of 2001 recognizes that improved student achievement
occurs when communities implement programs that are
scientifically proven to be effective. The 21st Century
Community Learning Centers program is committed to
ensuring that students have access to high-quality
and engaging enrichment activities that truly support
their learning and development. The 21st Century
initiative further stresses the importance of diverse
groups and organizations working together to strengthen
school and community networks to help students and
families succeed.
