This dynamic, hands-on training provides skills, knowledge, and take-home-and-do activities to make afterschool style your own.

Essentials of Staff Development

Pre-Conference Session Thursday, February 14, 1:30-4:00 PM

(Afterschool Education: Essentials of Practice is a pre-requisite for this session. Participants must attend the morning BSH pre-conference session OR have attended a Afterschool Education: Essentials of Practice session within the past two years.)

Skilled staff lead to quality programming. Learn to build your staffs’ skills as afterschool educators at your sites. Identify your program needs and see how to transform the content of Academic Content, After-School Style: A Notebook and Guide into effective staff development sessions. Get practical tips and strategies to keep up the quality year-round.

Cost: $75** per person in addition to BSH XI registration fee. Pre-registration required. Participants must also bring a copy of Academic Content After-School Style: A Notebook and Guide

Special Training

Join the Center for Afterschool Education Training Team, Become a Partner Trainer

Partner Trainers work under contract with the Center for Afterschool Education at Foundations, Inc. to co-facilitate dynamic, hands-on professional development sessions for afterschool educators.

If you are…

…an experienced afterschool educator
…a skilled facilitator for large and small groups of adult learners
…enthusiastic about working with afterschool staff across the country
…then apply now for one of a limited number of opportunities to gain certification as a partner trainer.

The Partner Trainer Program will be offered at Foundations’ Beyond School Hours XI conference in Jacksonville, FL, with 12 hours of session time. After satisfactorily completing a fully-co-facilitated session (with Center staff) at a later date, Partner Trainers will be ‘on call’ for contracted training work through Foundations. (Details provided in application packet.)

The Trainer program includes:

  • Three training sessions at BSH, including the pre-conference, “Afterschool Education: Essentials of Practice”, Friday, February 14, 2008, 8:30AM-12:30PM.

    • Academic Content After-School Style: A Notebook and Guide
    • GraffitiWall Afterschool Style Guide
  • Power Point training presentations

Program Cost: $300 per person (does NOT include general conference registration)
