Henry G. Cisneros
Chairman, American CityVista
and City View
San Antonio, TX
A living testament to American
diversity and leadership, Henry Cisneros achieved unprecedented success
as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and four-term Mayor
of San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Cisneros serves as Chairman of American
CityVista and City View, where he is leading a movement to strengthen
our nation one neighborhood at a time. Since their inception, American
CityVista and City View have recharged depressed areas of large metropolitan
cities by producing high-quality, affordable housing for thousands
of families, inspiring new residents to take part in developing their
own vibrant communities. In 1981 Cisneros was elected Mayor of San
Antonio, becoming the first Hispanic-American ever to run a major
American city. For four terms, he helped rebuild the city’s economy, making San Antonio one of America’s
most progressive cities. Mr. Cisneros presently serves as National
Chairman of the After-School All-Stars.

Eric J. Jolly, Ph.D.
President, Science Museum of
Minnesota
St. Paul, MN
Dr. Eric Jolly is the president
of the Science Museum of Minnesota, one of the nation’s
largest museums providing educational programs, films and exhibits to millions of
people locally and nationally. He has served as senior fellow for the UCLA School
of Public Policy, as an Osher Fellow for the Exploratorium of San Francisco, and
as a Kellogg National Leadership Fellow. An accomplished author and lecturer,
Dr. Jolly has most recently published “Engagement, Capacity and Continuity: A
Trilogy for Student Success,” which analyzes successful individual
reform efforts and their association with students entering science
and math-oriented careers. He is also the author of numerous books,
articles, and curricula for students and teachers across the educational
spectrum.

Thomas Sparough
The Space Painter
Cincinnati, OH
Tom Sparough is a juggler, storyteller,
writer, and facilitator. He is known as The Space Painter, which
comes from a description of juggling that Tom received from a two-year-old
child. When you witness his spectacular presentation, you, too, will
understand. The Space Painter has performed to mesmerized crowds
of all ages across North America and in Europe for corporations,
churches, conferences, schools, parks, festivals, and special events.
As a facilitator and workshop leader, this 25-year veteran juggler
has taught hundreds of thousands of people the arts of juggling and
balancing. With a master’s degree
in psychology, Tom weaves important
life-skill messages into his presentations. He offers a wide range
of hands-on experiences that promote self-esteem, analogy insight,
fellowship, and team building.

Jane Quinn
Assistant Executive Director
for Community Schools, Children’s Aid Society
New York, NY
Jane Quinn leads the Children's
Aid Society’s local and national work to forge
effective long-term partnerships
between public schools and other community resources, using 13 Community
Schools in New York City as both a model and a base for national
adaptation. Before joining The Children's Aid Society, Ms. Quinn
served as program director of the DeWitt Wallace-Reader's Digest
Fund, which is dedicated to the educational and career advancement
of low-income youth. She also worked for the Carnegie Corporation
of New York, where she directed a national study of youth organizations,
which resulted in the publication of a book entitled, A Matter of
Time: Risk and Opportunity in the Nonschool Hours. Ms. Quinn writes
a regular column for Youth Today and recently co-edited a book entitled
Community Schools in Action: Lessons from a Decade of Practice.

What do successful afterschool programs
look like in Dallas? On Tuesday, February 21, conference participants
will have the opportunity to visit model afterschool programs in our
host city. We will see the programs, talk with staff and program participants,
and share best practices. Transportation will be provided. Sign up
