Real-life learning. Hands-on.
Learner-centered. Experiential.

By any name, projects are a powerhouse for engaged learning and 21st century skill-building. But they take time to plan and develop.

The Learning in Action Project Pack makes it easy to create, launch, and manage independent learning projects that fit your program, schedule, staff, and students. Two CD's provide three guides with lesson plans, forms, student materials, assessments, and tools you can customize, adapt, organize, and print into your own user-friendly project-based learning manual.

Experience Learning: Individual Project
Experience Learning CD, with step-by-step lessons, handouts, and operational set-up, guides staff in leading independent study projects to link non-school activities with school-based learning. A complete, customizable Portfolio of Work structures, documents, and demonstrates learning in an academically grounded approach where students may earn credit for applied learning during out-of-school hours.

Celebrate Success: Group Project
Capitalize on your end-of-year party: Turn it into a group project for applied English, math, creativity, and leadership. Celebrate Success: RFP uses a grant-writing process for student groups to create an end-of-year celebration, budget it based on attendance, write a mock ‘grant' application to fund it, then carry it out. Along the way, students learn how to respond to Requests for Proposals to fund community service, youth grants, and other activities. CD includes instructions, customizable forms, assessments, communications, and examples from high school students in Philadelphia, PA.

Do-it-Yourself Project-Based Learning provides guidelines, tips, starter ideas, planners for students and staff, sample forms, assessment strategies, and templates to create your own projects based on student and staff interests, local communities, and program resources. Get going with STEM, service learning, committees, and assessment at all grade levels-and train staff to lead PBL using the detailed staff development sessions.
